Basic Features

PC-SIGNAL is a PC-based dynamic signal analysis software package running under the Windows environment. Other than PC VSD - a stand alone module, all other includes PC-SIGNAL Basic contains, but not limited to, the following procedures:
  • Waveform histograms and statistics (Mean, RMS, Skewness, Kurtosis, Max/Min, and Crest Factor) to allow user to see overall structure of the data file
  • Auto and Cross Spectral analysis functions with multiple window selection to minimize data leakage
  • Linear Correlation/Coherence Analysis Functions - to determine linear dependence between the two inputs of a cross spectrum and to determine the vaild range of the available data
  • Transfer Functions - to assess performance/characteristics of a device to provide clear indication of the part of an output spectrum that is directly related to the input
  • Phase Tracking - to track how steady a constant-speed condition is
  • 3 Dimensional Time/Frequency Waterfall and Spectrogram Plotting - to display key aspects of the variations in spectral relationships for both time and frequency
  • Spectral filtering (high-pass, low-pass, and band-pass), with easy selection of filter type and paramenters, to reduce the range of frequency components to be extracted from a time waveform
  • Spectral Component Tracking - to track change in frequency of a specific amplitude or specific frequency component
  • Shock Spectrum - to compare behavior of a system to two or more shock inputs

PC-SIGNAL employs a variety of utilities to help users process data faster.  Those utilities include:

  1. Generate Data
    • Filter - to reduce range of frequency components to be extracted from a time waveform.
    • Decimation - to reduce overall file size

Data generated using above utilities are saved into files, which in turn can be used in PC-SIGNAL for further processing.

  2. Utilities
    • Merge/Extract - to merge channels from two PC-SIGNAL data files or extract certain channels from one PC-SIGNAL data file
    • Copy Menu - to copy one menu settings to the next
    • File Conversion - to convert ASCII or binary files into PC-SIGNAL data files
    • Platform Conversion - to convert UNIX binary files to PC binary files or vice versa            "Return to Top"
